Muckrakers

We do have modern muckrakers. They are called CNN, FOX, WGN, and NBC. All of these news shows are exactly like Muckrakers. Dictionary.com defines the act of muckraking as: to search for and expose real or alleged corruption, scandal, or the like, especially in politics.Does this not sound like the modern day telivision. It sure does to me. There are obvious examples that are happening right now. All the news cared about from October to early December was his alleged sexual misconduct charges. No one talked about the issues. They wanted to talk about the gossip of the election, not the issues. And that is the difference between the modern day and the original Muckrakers. Gossip. The original Muckrakers cared about exposing those who tricked and/or wronged the public. The modern day ones only care about who's career they have the power to end. Over the years the Muckrakers have become as bad or worse than the people they are trying to expose. They cloud the issues with the smog of gossip.
